(In Memory of All Deceased NLSMLS Members)
The NLSMLS feels it is important to promote and recognise technologists who are dedicated to their profession and go above and beyond what is normally required to care for their patients. This award is presented to a current member in good standing whose professional conduct and dedication have contributed greatly in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. It can be one incident or a number of incidents that show that this technologist has made a difference in their work place.
The award, consisting of a plaque, will be presented to the member either at the annual NLSMLS congress or at an appropriate time at the technologist'swork place. Nominations may be submitted by members at large and each nomination must be accompanied by a citation outlining the incidents for which the nominee should be considered for this award.
Nomination deadline is June 1, of each year.

Honorary Membership
Honorary Membership is awarded in recognition of a members outstanding contribution to the NLSLT. The recipient, who must be a certified member (practicing, non-practicing, or retired) receives all the privileges and services of membership without payment of membership fees.
A certificate and plaque to commemorate the award are presented at the society's annual congress and the expenses of the recipient are paid to receive the award in person.
Nominations may be submitted at large and each nomination must be accompanied by a citation outlining the nominee's contributions to society activities at all levels.

Memorial Scholarship
This memorial scholarship, established by the Newfoundland and Labrador Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences, consists of $250 and a certificate. It is presented to the Medical Laboratory Sciences II student who has attained the highest grade point average at the end of the Second Year.

David Ball was an inspiration to every laboratory technologist in Canada. He succumbed to renal disease in July 2001. David served his entire laboratory career working for the Western Health Care Board and resided in Deer Lake, NL. Outside of his career, David was an active community leader and volunteer with the Deer Lake Town Council, Scouts Canada, and the Gideons.
The NLSMLS in conjunction with Abbott Laboratories, Diagnostics Division offers a provincial recognition in the form of a cash award to a student during their third year of the Medical Laboratory Science program at the College of the North Atlantic.
Submissions are to be forwarded to the NLSMLS Awards Committee and must be postmarked no later than June 1st of each year.

NLSMLS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship will be a cash reward of $250.00 sponsored by Roche Diagnostics.
Students who have completed Semester 6 of their second year of studies in the Medical
Laboratory Sciences Program at CAN will be eligible; the award will be presented when
the student is in their third year of the program.
The award is presented to the student who, in the opinion of the Medical Laboratory
Sciences faculty, consistently displays the qualities and attributes of an exemplary student
technologist. These qualities include the following:
